Summer Fun!

This summer has been a lot of fun with the nice weather! Aside from work I've been able to read a few more books and do some fun stuff!

For the 4th of July we went to work (big surprise) then up to Riverton to party with my mom's side of the family. The food was great, and I made some fun brownies for the occasion. My cousins built a little zip line in the backyard too and we got everyone to try it out. The video is of my Aunt Terri on the zip line.




































Scott and I went to an Orem Owlz baseball game (thank you to APX for the tickets!) and had a great time. The game was great and the Owlz won!



































My birthday was on the 14th so Scott and I planned to go to a midnight showing of Harry Potter. While we were at work I was given two tickets to the American Idol Tour that night! Thank you again to APX because the concert was great! I didn't really follow American Idol, so I now understand the Adam Lambert craze. The guy is amazing! He has a great voice and a great stage presence. I took lots of pictures and took a video of each performer. We left just before the finale to avoid traffic and we were able to make it back with plenty of time to spare before Harry Potter started. I absolutely loved the movie and can't wait to watch it again.


















For my birthday we had a BBQ at my dad's house and I invited a bunch of friends to come have fun. We had lots of food (including s'mores and popsicles!), we played water balloon volleyball, and watched a movie outside once it got dark. It was a lot of fun to see everyone and just hang out. My dad has all the photos, so I'll post some later. My friend Nicole also turned 21 that week so I went to her house for cake and ice cream.

Last but not least out of things that have happened lately, Scott turned 24! Now if you know Scott you know that he really doesn't like celebrating birthdays so we didn't do much out of the ordinary. I did however talk him into eating at Cafe Rio after work. My friend Liz came with us and we got a dessert to share. I made Scottie pose. :)

Family Band

I stopped by my dad's house the other night to find a basement full of band equipment! A drum set, three guitars (acoustic, electric & bass), a few amps, and a microphone. It was great! I've never really touched a drum set before so I took some time to become more acquainted. Then I headed over to the guitars and the mike. Here are some fun photos - I only wish I could really play!

In honor of the sun's appearance today, Scott and I ventured to the park across the street for some time on the slides and the swings. We were outside for a grand total of 15 minutes, including travel time. It was pretty hot, and the park was pretty lame. I did take some fun photos, so here they are!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Ever seen the movie? Basically it's my all-time favorite chick flick. Remember the part where she makes a family album? Well Julie just blogged about this site, and I thought I'd try it out for the sake of the movie and it was a very interesting experience. Our first baby is adorable, but was not what I was expecting. Our next two looked much more like us.

Three Cups of Tea

I have officially finished my first book from my summer reading list! Three Cups of Tea is the story of Greg Mortenson, a climber who promoted peace "One School at a Time." After his failed attempt to reach the summit of K2, Mortenson lost his course and stumbled into a remote village in Pakistan. After being nursed back to health by the people of Korphe, Mortenson promised to return one day to build a school for the children of the impoverished village. Over the next ten years Mortenson built fifty-five schools throughout Pakistan and Afghanistan.


This book is definitely on my list of books that everyone should read at least once in their lifetime. You can visit the website at www.threecupsoftea.com for more information. The MCAT!

Scott has officially taken the MCAT! We won't receive his score for about a month, but I am glad that it's over. Scott did a great job preparing for it, he even had to study in his sleep sometimes.

My Grandma

Lately I've been going through all of my digital photos and organizing them. I've come across a lot of great photos, so there might be a few more photo posts coming this way. Below is a picture of my grandma taken on Christmas Eve in 2004. This is one of the best photos I have and I definitely need to get it framed.

Summer Book List

Since I won't be taking classes through the summer, I need to find other things to occupy my time and my mind. Working full time really isn't that difficult, and if it wasn't for my 11-7 schedule I might get a second job to keep me sane. Wow, Scott is really rubbing off on me. :)

Anyway, the first thing I thought about is to have a summer book list! I want to read everything from The Great Gatsby to Wuthering Heights to How To Win Friends and Influence People. Anything from all-time classics that you read in high school to novels that everyone should read once in their life. I've compiled a fairly sturdy list but I definitely can't remember every title that has ever been mentioned, so please leave your ideas! Any book that you think is worth reading should be on my list!
